We had the recent opportunity to visit Hing Kong and go to Ocean Park and Disneyland and such. One of our stops there however, included the Big Buddha statue on the Lantau Island of Hong Kong. In that same area is where the Po Lin Monastery, their temple, resides.
The first few photos are of the entry arch and the Big Buddha itself.
There were 262 stairs to the top. Almost 300!
The next set of photos are of the Po Lin Monastery. The first temple we went to see allowed no visitors inside and photos were not allowed to be taken of the inside of it. We were only allowed to stand at the doorway and look in. So these are leading up to it and the outside of it.
The second temple visitors still weren't allowed. Both temples were for people who were there to actually worship. But this one we could stand at the outside and take pictures (without flash) of the inside, as long as we didn't enter the temple itself. This temple was called the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas. (Or something very close to that). It was absolutely stunning inside too.
The rest of the photos are some other little buildings and features around the monastery.
It was an awesome experience and a beautiful place to visit.
